Charm
The first time I ever encountered this word was in College when we used Jane’s Charm to get what we want from one of our professors. It was overwhelming, the power this character can wield. I know many people have fallen prey to this trait... And I am not an excuse. I have fallen to numerous sweet talks and half-meant promises many times. How could you deny someone who looked so sincere something they want?
I have read a friend’s journal talking about an old flame... In there she enumerated all the foolish stuff she had done. (Believe me they’re not foolish when you’re the one doing them!). And I could not help but to see myself… Well... Some of the things there were extremities… but using analogy, I know.. If I’m not careful.. I am bound to do them all.
That entry scared the hell out of me. The emotional torture—(which is really stressful…), the psychological impact/trauma (could break you into pieces really…) and the financial hassle (uhmm yeah!). Then it suddenly hit me.. Am I drawn to her because of the reasons she (my friend) has stated there? Uhmm… I don’t know.. What I am sure of is that I want her to have a better life.
Well, yeah—when I hear of people who have broken my heart leading a miserable life—I feel lighthearted.. like “Thank you lord he is miserable”- kinda feeling. Sometimes, I sigh and feel thankful to God for letting that person slipped away from me.
Indeed, forever could take a very, very, veryyyyyyyy long time with the wrong person.
